HUDSON AMERICAN LEGION
Post 180 The Hudson American Legion What a year! 2009 will go clown as one of the great challenges of our Post. THANKS to so many Members (Legion, Sons, Auxiliary) and Friends, we made great progress. So many of you have stepped up. Fish Fries, Special Dinners, Meetings, Maintenance Work, Volunteer Bartenders, Scrap Collection (Plunder Platoon), Wood Cutting are just some of the activities of the past year. We have projects - we continue to need your help! Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, 8:00 pm. Mike keeps it short "moving right along" and to the point.
Firing Squad News (Dave Warren sitting in for the AWOL Bob) The Firing Squad/Honor Curd had a total of 15 funerals in 2009, 3 of which were Members of our Post 180. TAPS 10/17 George Reynolds, Hillside in Addison, 11/19 Frederick Fowler, Maple Grove in Hudson, 11/25 Mike Dickey, Leonardson in Pittsford, 12/ I Charles Goodrow, Maple Grove in Hudson.
We provided wreath laying services for "Wreaths Across America" at Maple Grove and Calvary cemeteries to honor our fallen veteran comrades from all wars. We split our Guard into two groups and, along with Van VandeZande and Dave Warren, presented prayers at each Hudson cemetery. Thanks to Bob VanHemert and Kara Meister for rendering TAPS.
Special THANKS to all Squad Members for a job well done this past year and a warm welcome to new Members Ron Fox and Doug Galbreath. Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant ist is for brothers to dwell together in unity!
House Committee News (Ron Fox, Carol & Mike Shadbolt and Doug Galbreath)We continue our very successful Volunteer Bartending! Still need more help. Fun and cost savings. Sign up calendar behind the bar. WE NEED YOU TO STOP OUT AT THE CLUB ANYTIME !!!! Thanks to Duane Murphy and Mark Monahan for the Wreaths Across America organization and involvement.
SPECIAL NOTE - MONEY AUCTION - JANUARY 30, 2010 In addition to the many donations of items from area businesses and friends for the auction or drawing portion of the event The Green Bay Packers have express delivered an authentic CHEESE HEAD from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin as a tribute to Post 180. The Cheese Head contains authentic autographs of Head Coach Mike McCarthy and Packer Legend Grant 'Bulldog" Turner. The "Head" may be viewed anytime at the Post and immediately prior to the start of the Money Auction (please, no touching).
FOR YOUR INFORMATION: We have a, 1000 gal non registered LP tank, an antique farm scale and split white ash firewood for sale!!!!! Call the Legion home or stop out for inspection.
